Beautiful but strenuous hike starting at the parking lot directly at Lac d'Ilay, which this time we followed counterclockwise to the left, continuing along Lac le grand Maclu to the end of Lac le petit Maclu. After following the road for about a hundred meters from the next parking lot, the hiking trail turns right in sepentines steeply up the mountain. Once you have reached the height, you will find an aberration that you follow automatically if you follow the well-trodden path over pebbles: Be careful, the circular path turns somewhat inconspicuously to the right when you have reached the height. The GR 559A junction, marked red and white, can be overlooked. Foresters or hunters have kindly set clear markings that advise against continuing on the wrong path. On the ridge over rocks and roots you will encounter, in addition to the 👁️Belvedere of Quatre Lacs, another 👁️Belvedere with a view over the four lakes, it's hard to say which view is more exciting. The closer you get to the Pic de l'Aigle, the more worn and muddy the GR 559A Échapée Jurassienne becomes in wet weather, because shortly after the summit there is another parking lot for day trippers. Once there, you have to follow the yellow markings towards Ilay again, but the descent via this side is easier and less steep than the ascent. If you're lucky, you can also spot chamois 🦅 on the steep rocks, smelling the wintry snowy air. From the Ilay chapel you go through the hamlet past several beautiful gites and you return to the starting point on the left along the lake shore. It should be noted that when the visibility is good, you can admire 🏔️Mont Blanc☀️ from the Pic de l'Aigle. There is also a descent option without the Schlenk via the parking lot above la Chaux-du-Dombief, but this is definitely not recommended in bad weather due to the risk of slipping.
Beautiful scenery from the lookouts, see photos, Eagle Peak is a beautiful lookout that is easy to reach
