Sainte-Madeleine Church of Le Montellier

Highlight • Religious Site

12th century Sainte Madeleine church
The history of this pleasant flowered village merges with that of the castle. The origin of the name of Montellier was glimpsed by the Burgundian historian Courtépée: "height on the track".

The seigniory of Montellier, under the suzerainty of the Lords of Thoire-Villars from the 12th to the 15th century, was first owned by gentlemen named Montellier, a family which died out at the beginning of the 14th century.

Trail Reviews

The ponds route, the Ain by bike, a cyclist's paradise .... A topo map dotted with "blue zones", when starting this ride you inevitably expect to be immersed in a report from "Des racines et des ailes" :-) Well, ponds when riding you don't see that many ..... the roads (small and sometimes large) are most of the time bordered by high hedges, corn which hide the ponds that you see on the GPS screen right next to the track followed .... no visible trace of fish farming activity .... That being said, we had a nice bike ride, that was the goal ..... The turnkey track was offered to me by Komoot, it confirms my point of view on their algorithm which is not top-top: the 5 km at the start along the D82 are easily avoidable, as well as there has lots of possibilities "Rolling Gravel" .... we'll do better next time The "bars" break: Boismont chapel or Chapelier pond, A link that explains fishing in Dombes: https://www.dombes-tourisme.com/decouvrir-lessentiel/la-dombes-terre-detangs/les-peches-detang-en-dombes/
