Today's ride was on the list of rides to do in spring-summer as I also wanted to ride the Alpini trail, but then I thought "I have studded tires, I can definitely get to the Pradut refuge and then we'll see". So it was, 7:10 on the bike with the first light, I don't bring lights, the temperature is -3 degrees and it seems hot so much that I take off my jacket, overshoes and merino gloves. The pogies for the hands are the lightest ones on the bar-mitt and I also take off the overpants, as I have to climb to 1450 and I warm up quickly. Maybe it's because the -15 degrees of last Saturday have tempered me but I sweat, I open my shirt as I encounter the first frozen snow and then even live ice. The studded tires seem glued to the ground and give me a lot of confidence. At 1300 the snow increases and to get to the refuge I sometimes push the bike so I take advantage of it to enjoy the view and take some photos. The slight slope that reaches the refuge is never-ending and of course the manager who looks after "his little garden" has only beaten the road that reaches in front of his refuge with his cat; "all the same" I think to myself, "hoteliers at high altitude". This doesn't put me in a bad mood because I'm used to it, in the Dolomites it's worse. I stop for a slice of strudel and I don't dare ask for info on the Alpini road, I simply don't trust them. The die is cast, I go down to the valley but I decide to take the shortcuts that hikers who are going up for lunch use, eh yes everything is sold out for lunch at midday 🤔🤷🥶. The single track is very icy but the tires hold up great and I'm having fun like a child; some technical passages, some steps, some tight curves keep my adrenaline high, some hikers compliment me and I get fat with pride without eating😜. Once I reach the road the game ends🤷I reach the car satisfied 😀😎💪🤙🥶😜
