A tour from Bentheim Tourismus. Very varied!
The 2nd day of the tour 🇳🇱 "Hallo Niederlande" 🇳🇱. Past the historic lock at Vechtesee, the bike tour leads along the Nordhorn-Almelo Canal to the Frensdorfer Haar lock – the border to the Netherlands. Shortly before Denekamp, we pass the famous ice cream parlor "De Ijskuip" 🍨 and the Hennie Kuiper Cycling Museum 🚴♂️. It was still a bit too early for an ice cream, a shame really ☹️. Afterwards, we follow Singraven Castle 🏰 and watermill. A short stop for a ☕️, we just had to pause here to enjoy this idyll. We continue to the artists' village of Ootmarsum, where there are many galleries 🧑🎨🎨 and craft shops. Definitely a worthwhile destination. Strolling through the alleys and looking at the art in the small shops is definitely recommended. Narrow singletrails then led us through a somewhat hilly landscape. We wouldn't have expected to gain a few meters in altitude here 🏔️. The next destination was the historic town of Lage, located on the Dinkel river. (Very interesting history, worth googling). Past the old watermill, we cycle to a café stop ☕️ 🍰 at Frenswegen Monastery ⛪️. Here you can find the most delicious homemade cakes 🍰 and pies 🥧, which the super nice boss 👩🍳 bakes herself daily. The return journey to Nordhorn leads along the Vechte river. Conclusion of this tour: The cycle paths of the entire route are first-class. The landscape on both sides 🇩🇪/🇳🇱 is very varied and impressive. Our thanks go to the Grafschaft Bentheim Tourismus team for providing the tours 👏 🙋♀️ 🙋🏼♂️.
A very nice route from Nordhorn. A bit of town at the beginning and then nice to our taste = a lot of back roads. Ootmarsum is always a nice destination. Very busy today. So no photos of it.
A great tour, just the way I like it. Lots of byways, great scenery, nice along the water.
Admittedly, the name of this tour is a bit awkward. We have already driven this tour and modified it a bit... Turned the direction of travel and made small changes. On the second half of the tour we stopped at a Rust point and bought two delicious cookies, which is how the tour got its name.
We did the tour once last year. Now we're doing it again, with a slightly different route at the beginning, along the border path.
By bus to Nordhorn🚍. Super organized by Thiesing, we cycled towards Ootmarsum. A nice little cozy place has to be repeated
