On our first hike in the Vercors, we explore a more northerly section of the route because our accommodation is further south, and the various parts of the region are only accessible with long journeys, either via winding mountain passes or major detours. Transferring Junior, still asleep, from his car seat to his backpack, we trudge swiftly upwards. From the very beginning, we are amazed by the incredible splendor of the autumn forest. Numerous colorful paragliders soar over the colorful peaks. After a moderate climb through a tranquil valley, we reach the mountain saddle and are captivated by the view: Grénoble stretches out below us, a vast urban plain, dotted with smaller rocks and surrounded by majestic peaks. Opposite us are the Alps, with snow-capped Mont Blanc to the northwest and slightly lower mountains just above the city, seeming to crash over it like waves. Directly at our edge, on both sides, are impressive cliffs, which later reveal themselves to be an absolute characteristic of the Vercors. As the tour continues over the Pic Saint-Michel and the Col de l'Arc, we continue to enjoy the views, weather, vegetation, and company. 😊
Hiking day in the Vercors Today we went up to the Pic St.Michel....from the parking lot in La Sierre at 1400m up to 1966m in altitude...through rugged rock...steep, scree passages and insane perspectives of Grenoble and the Mont Blanc massif... worthwhile tour - the views from the steep cliff edge are awesome !!! We then went back over the Col de l'Arc - over partly steep, slippery passages, but also beautiful shady forest sections...
