Lake Fourchu

Highlight • Lake

A regular visit for locals from Grenoble, the grassy plateaus give way to rocky peaks and what is essentially very welcoming Scottish moorland can feel more alpine due to views of the Oisans massif in the distance and the Rocher Culasson and Grand Galbert.

Trail Reviews

Andrej
August 9, 2024, Lac Fourchu – Schleife auf der Plateau des Lacs

My daughter and I went hiking to Lac Fourchu today. It was very strenuous (huge climb and heat), but the route and the views of the mountains were breathtaking. Simply amazing. That's why we took a lot of time at each viewpoint. My daughter took hundreds of pictures with her digital camera. She didn't want to leave.😊 The highest point of the hike was around 2150 meters. I can highly recommend this hike to anyone who is in this area. It is by no means easy and the descent is not without danger, but the route should not pose any problems for any reasonably experienced hiker. There were also families with children (7-8 years old) hiking on the route.

Very nice hike with a view of La Meije, Mont Blanc, Alpe d'Huez... Start at La Grenonière below the Col d'Ornon. The seascape below the Taillefer is absolutely enchanting!
