Moderately difficult beginners' tour. Not too steep (max 12%). Little traffic
Always looking for nice little roads that connect corners of paradise, I was served, with the added bonus of splendid weather! The trail starts from Buis-Les-Baronnies (be careful on market days), a nice village, with many bars and an ice cream parlor (I say that, I say nothing). The Col de Fontaube is climbed without much difficulty, small curves under the pines and from time to time the summit of Ventoux appears in the field of view. We then overlook the Toulourenc gorges with beautiful panoramas, notably the village of Brantes and Ventoux in the background. After 20 km, the road descends into the Toulourenc valley, a few pedal strokes before arriving at the village of Reilhanette. Yes, there is a little hassle at the entrance to the village, but yes it is worth it (a fountain to fill the cans and a magnificent view). Just after: Montbrun les Bains, it also goes up but it's a very good place to eat. It is also a remarkably pretty village! The 2nd half of the trail gently flows into the Aulan gorges. It's not Verdon or Nesque, but it's charming and deserted. Beyond the Virgin in the cliff, you will find a ladder which allows you to dip your feet in the river. After Aulan Castle (the track takes you there but it is not essential), the trees give way to lavender fields, and the Aulan pass has been crossed, all you have to do is let yourself slide easily to the Ouvèze plain. Follow the Ouvèze and these small villages to the cute Ubrieux gorges. Climbing and swimming spot in turquoise water. Last km before completing the loop, the terraces of Buis-les-Baronnies are waiting for us!
Today we drove and admired the Gorge d’Auban. A remarkable stretch of the route in every respect. Before that we passed Montbrun-les-Baines. The Lawendelfelder smelled particularly good here. The place is one of the most beautiful in France. From the gorge we immediately spotted him, the Géant de Provençe, the Mont Ventoux. It is clear that this is also on our program.
Route error: you have to return to Buis via the Col de l'Homme Mort to avoid an unlit tunnel
