Gravel riding
Every sport has its iconic places and with gravel in the Netherlands you quickly end up at the Deelerwoud. Here are two identical trees on either side of a beautiful gravel path that is photographed by many cyclists. This gravel monument really belongs in this Evergreen round.

Here is the perfect version of this route, namely the other way around: https://www.komoot.com/nl-NL/tour/179124998?ref=itd&share_token=aKQcr9Vczd23DDgccpTp6daywrEWf1ouPSZ3uBHz8WJS9k4pC1&ref=its
Only 5,000 km this year. That can be different next year. 2025 was special. After over 35 years of paid employment, I started my own business. Partly office work, partly in the bicycle industry. A huge success. I'll definitely continue with that in 2026. There are more special things to come (more on that later), with a few fun adventures abroad and a major change of pace. This gravel ride was amazing again. Because of the slippery conditions, I started straight off on the perfect gravel roads. As little smooth asphalt as possible. Deelerwoud, Loenermark, Postbank, the gravel monument, and the Gravel Highway passed by one more time. What a wonderful route that is. Peace and quiet. Beautiful nature. No traffic. Just a few other people seeking peace and quiet who wanted to take one last walk or bike ride before closing out 2025. Happy New Year everyone. Stay healthy. And see you next year🥳👋
Lovely round of gravel through Loenermark, Terletse Heide and a bit of Posbank. It remains striking how wonderfully sheltered from the wind you ride on this circuit. And the gravel paths here are the driest in the Netherlands. So if you STILL want to cycle somewhere in these wet days, then you should cycle this route. Mainly hardpack gravel paths, beautiful nature, quite a few elevation meters, beautiful distant views. No technical or difficult MTB trails or single tracks or loose sand or meter-long mud puddles anywhere. Perfect for NOW🤪
This round remains a classic. But very hot and millions of flies (which did NOT taste good). 95% unpaved. Hardpack gravel, except for the piece with Mixed Terrain in Deelerwoud
Wonderful Gravel Clinic given for NL Tour rides. Super fun, educational and fun group! Everyone learned a lot and is at Gravel-next-level😅👍Great gravel route, without technical single tracks. Very nice nature decor. Especially in Loenermark. Gently sloping landscape everywhere, significant elevation gain everywhere, spotting wildlife. It rains regularly here (that's why it's so green😝), so always bring a rain jacket or body warmer or something
I have been using this well-known and super fun gravel round for my Gravel clinics that start from Terlet for a while now. Super nice weather. Beautiful hardpack gravel roads and of course Scottish Highlanders on the way and many Scottish Highlanders along the hardpack gravel roads. This clinic was very special: I went out with a Belgian: he had first sat in the car for 3 hours for this, and also graveled 90km this morning! It turned out to be a participant of the World Cup Gravel who wanted to be TOP in 4 weeks. And so today I was allowed to try to teach someone of this level something, I think I succeeded: he now goes through the sandpits easier and faster and has been able to improve his cornering technique. Especially the rear brake technique (to ensure a quiet and tight drivetrain) on some Mtb single tracks of Mtb Arnhem/Schaarsbergen helped with that. Soooo extremely fun to do this. Worth repeating🤘
Hi 2022, here I am. Let's make it something beautiful! A wonderful kick-off to the new calendar year with a gravel ride through the Deelerwoud and the always beautiful Loenermark. Wonderfully mild weather and beautiful nature... it doesn't get any better on January 1! Happy new year everybody! Oh yeah. Are you following this route? Officially you need the MTB vignette from Natuurmonumenten for a small part. So get it before 2022... you can enjoy it all year round!
This must be cycling for a while 😡 stupid phone has a cure today, route komoot was again pleasent .... but drove a nice round.
