This route was planned by komoot.
A great mountain hike to a magnificent viewpoint. However, the descent through the cacti was a pure climbing adventure that was extremely strenuous for kilometers. But you can avoid it by taking the same route back. Or just making a "detour" to the cacti🌋🌞👍
The highest mountain on the island is Pico de la Zarza (812m). We watched the sunrise there today.
I waited especially for the best day to climb Fuerteventura's highest mountain. As I'd noticed beforehand, it was mostly shrouded in clouds. Today, it finally worked out. Perfect conditions with blue skies and magnificent views. On the way back, which no one else was doing, I made a fantastic discovery. Wild cacti in abundance, like I've never seen before. A fantastic day that will stay with me for a long time. 👍🌞🥾⛰️🌴🌵🌵😎
Climbed the highest peak on Fuerteventura with my wife and sister...at least I did. But neither of them are used to such hikes. So they both took a break at 620 meters while I climbed to 807 meters. Tour was fun so far, it was just a little warm and sunny. Either pack well, like me, or apply good cream. At the top you really have a very good view of the northwest coast.
The route is not suitable for strollers. Children from 10 years of age. Maybe more if you are in good shape. But definitely not for small children. The route is classified as DIFFICULT. Please make sure you have enough water, sunscreen and sturdy shoes (ideally hiking boots) with you. The view is worth it. If the weather is good you can see Gran Canaria and the Teide from Africa. Otherwise it is enough to reach Cofete, Morro Jable and Costa Calma. P.S. If you are not so good on foot, you can also walk the entire recorded route back up. Have fun! 😀
Right on the first full day of vacation, we wanted to go high!💪 The plan was to go from 0 to just over 800m - Pico de la Zarza🌄 From the beach promenade, it's a steep climb that other tourists gladly skipped for almost 2 km (the cheaters😋). Well, in hindsight, that would probably have been the better idea for me too 🤫
