Arcen Castle and Gardens

Highlight • Castle

Arcen Castle was built in its present form in the 17th century by the Dukes of Geldern. A predecessor building from the 16th century was destroyed in 1646.

The outer bailey is surrounded by a moat. Over a small bridge you reach the castle courtyard through the main portal of this bailey. Above the portal is the stone alliance coin Geldern-von Lützerode. With the exception of the main portal, which is built in natural stone, the entire castle is a brick building.

The entrance to the castle garden worth seeing including main building costs 15, -, which are absolutely worthwhile.

When the storks come, spring is within reach 👍 We took advantage of the beautiful weather ☀️ for a little afternoon tour to the right of the Meuse. Some paths were still closed due to flooding, but a detour solved the problem.
