During work in the former gravel pit between Kromsdorf and Sessenborn, a number of remnants of Ice Age life were found, which is explained in more detail on this board.
This point belongs to a separate tour of the Museum of Prehistory and Early History of Thuringia, which connects several places on this topic and is extremely interesting.

Brunnenstube Süßenborn

Highlight • Monument

The Süßenborn village well is a unique structure and monument. No comparable object has been found in Thuringia to date. The well consists of a vaulted basin chamber made of natural stone. The north-south barrel vault is 5.60 m long. From the west, a second, smaller barrel adjoins the main barrel, which, according to tradition, served as access to the chamber. Water was drawn from there. The exterior walls of the building are mostly made of limestone masonry.

The hand pump was installed to facilitate water extraction.

TA 11.01.2025: "The former Chausseehaus on today's B7 was built around 1829 according to a design by the famous architect Clemens Wenzeslaus Coudray. The classicist building is a listed building, but has been empty since the 1990s. The last announcement of a renovation by the then owner dates back to 2013." in the article by Susanne Seide
