The Baa Pub, Hostel and Viking Statues

Highlight • Pub

The Baa is a hostel and campsite with its own pub.

This small, unique and quirky little pub has a cobblestone floor and plenty of sheep related decorations. It serves local ales and its own range of sheep themed cocktails.

In the garden are giant viking statues, thought to have been used as film props for the series Beowulf.

Smashing track linking Bolt Law and Parkhead, but is quite deeply rutted in places, so beware pedals clashing with the sides

Buckshott Fell and Edmondbyers Common Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Natural

Something of a long trail for a Highlight, this - but it's totally fabulous. The trail along the tops here (Buckshott Fell, Chop Hardy and Edmondbyers Common) is an old lead mining route.

Run from east to west it's broadly downhill single and doubletrack with glorious views. It's a total dream of a trail, with the odd ford to keep you interested and your toes nicely moist.

Some of the paths we're overgrown and not visible in the heather . Had to lift over one stile and a gate but otherwise a nice workout with lovely views
