Historic place and the UK's smallest city in terms of population. A touristy seaside town with plenty of places to resupply. I'd highly recommend visiting the Cathedral and sampling the fish and chips!

Built by St David, the patron saint of Wales, the cathedral has been a site of pilgrimage and worship for more than 800 years. Set on the site of an earlier 6th-century monastery, construction of the present cathedral began around 1180. Today, the cathedral – which is free to enter – is a spiritual and serene place to explore.

Highlight • Religious Site

Quite unusual, this church: its tower, its cruciform plan and - that I’ve not seen before - it’s oriented SW-NE.

Llwynog Arian Stone Circle

Highlight • Monument

There are a few stories about the origins of Llwynog Arian Stone Circle. It's not typical, having only 11 stones instead of 12. Accordingly legend has it that the 12th stone stands on the headland just to the West, having been hurled there by Welsh giant - Owain of Trefin.

Despite the stories, it seems this stone circle has a more modern origin.

Melin Trefin Mill Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

Thought to date from the 15th century, the ruins of Aberfelin Mill are a vestige of the region's industrial past. The mill was used to grind wheat and barley and it ceased operation in 1918. By this time it was cheaper to import wheat from overseas. The mill featured in the Welsh language poem 'Melin Trefin' by Crwys.

Mathry Hill Climb

Highlight • Settlement

A short, sharp climb - leading up to the village of Mathry.

The village itself was a site of a former Bronze-Age defensive hill fort, acting as a perfect high point to spot an approaching enemy. Today, it's a little more quiet and the locals don't worry about that sort of thing so much.
