Beautiful but absolutely to be avoided in summer.
If you do the Hom summit, there would be no reason not to do it if you have chosen the longer route after the gorge, on the way back from the summit, I recommend you go back to the exit of the gorge and do the path in the woods rather than take this road.

Here it is super pleasant, because there are much fewer people to be found than in the Vintgar gorge and also has a fabulous view!

Either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
The canyon itself is beautiful, but during the usual "rush hour" tourists are busily bushland and the visit is not fun anymore ...

The gorge is quite pretty, but a complete tourist rip-off.
The gorge is only accessible in one direction, from Vintgar 1. So we went there this morning and thought we'd buy our tickets the old-fashioned way (off-season). The lady at the ticket booth immediately explained to us that standard tickets are ONLY available at the booth at the end of …

Today we visit the Vintgar gorge. Beautiful nature again 🤩.
Took so many photos, but couldn't choose and uploaded them all 🫣.

Before we went to the gorge, we first had a drink at Gostilna Vintgar and ate the local delicacy Kremšnita.

A beautiful gorge with clear turquoise water. I can only confirm the recommendation to visit in the afternoon, as the sun sometimes shines through then. The path can only be walked in one direction, which makes the whole thing very relaxing. The current entrance fee of €10 per person is worth it.

The kilometers don't really match. You can see how the GPS signal jumped back and forth in the gorge 😄

Attention for all with four-legged friends. On this tour you first come through a flock of sheep and later through cows and horses.

The Vintgar Gorge is beautiful, but get there as early as possible (otherwise there are far too many visitors on the affordable water path of the brown dotted line from the entrance to the Sum waterfall in the high season (€10 parking fee & adults €10 & children €3.. .), but the best & most beautiful route is the free …

Very nice, easy hike! Very doable with a dog

A truly wonderful hike through the Vintgar Gorge, where you can feel the power of nature. But unfortunately, overtourism is also clearly evident: You need a ticket with a specific time slot for visiting the gorge. Especially during peak season or on weekends, it's best to book this in advance. There are large parking lots with a shuttle bus to …
