Old Hellmannsgrund Ski Jump

Highlight • Structure

Pure sports history, but read for yourself:

The Nordic skiing section of the SG Langenchursdorf was launched in 1962 and the first ski jump was then built in Hellmannsgrund. In 1974 the jumping facility was expanded to include the pioneer flying hill. The inauguration took place in 1975 and consequently the Saxon Langenchursdorf developed into an important Nordic training center in the former GDR. Every year there was a competition for the "pottery cup" of the neighboring pottery town of Waldenburg. The last competition there took place in 1989.

The bathhouse bears the inscription "Henriette, the best wife, gives, gives and dedicates to Otto."

A lovely Sunday tour.
Autumn is showing its colourful side. If only it didn't get dark so early.

Old ski jump at Hellmannsgrund

Nice Sunday walk around Waldenburg. Through the Hellmannsgrund, past the old ski jumps (a real lost place) and through great nature towards Grünefelder Park. There is also a place to stop for refreshments at the Glänzelmühle (note the opening times). Grünefelder Park is a beautiful nature park with some highlights. We recommend the walk👍👍.

We took advantage of the wonderful autumn weather in November and hiked through Grünfelder Park.

A beautifully landscaped and well-maintained park.

A lovely restaurant and a small café are located along the route (open Fridays to Sundays).

We highly recommend the walk; it's suitable for children with or without strollers.

In autumn with apples along the way in the second half.
