The term moor is derived from "sea" and is therefore closely linked to the element water and the associated moisture. Bogs occur in areas where water is abundant and evaporation is low.

Don't feel like cooking, so why not go for a bit of a roaming in the Spessart and reward yourself with a delicious meal?

Definitely 5 stars. Beautiful forest trails with two great picnic areas, and the Sylvan Hut as the highlight. A great atmosphere, fast and friendly service at the "Lucke" self-service counter, and a promising menu. We only had a wine spritzer, but judging by the surrounding tables, it was delicious. Our first hike in the Spessart, and we were totally impressed. …

The thermometer shows minus temperatures, there should be some snow in the Hochspessart. So we drive up to the highest elevation in the Spessart, the Geiersberg (585 m). We start at the Breitsol transmitter in glorious weather. The snow also lies on the thin branches of the bushes and trees. This makes for great photos against the blue sky.

From the car park we hiked gently uphill to the summit cross. After a short rest we continued on beautiful paths to the forester's house. Sylvan. With very good food and pleasant conversations. Completed the circular route with a moderate incline to the car park.

I discovered it at @Ronny 67 and @Nico a while ago and got it out of the treasure chest today. Thank you both for the tips and the tour!
The Torhaus Aurora car park is already 483 m above sea level.
We follow the H Heuneweg to the radio tower, first a forest highway, then a beautiful forest path. The …

I would not run the route again. The steep piece downhill can not have been a forest path. Who guided me there.. and that in the snow... But otherwise beautiful

The plan was to climb the highest mountain in the Spessart. The area is really beautiful. Butterflies fluttered everywhere. In the forester's house Sylvan you can stop off really well. Simple round, abbreviated in places over forest tracks. The area looks like an alpine valley, only the peaks on the horizon are missing. 🙂
