Bride and Groom Rock Formations

Highlight • Natural Monument

One of the landmarks of Dahn. It is arguably the easiest rock massif to reach as it towers right off the road and can even be photographed from the road. Climbers are often seen on the south side.

May 9, 2024,Pfälzer Wald: Dahn/ Fischbach/ Area1/ Wasigenstein
The area around Dahn is considered the most beautiful spot in the Palatinate Forest. It is not far from the French border and thus the wild Northern Vosges. Highlights of the tour are certainly the listed Area 1, formerly the largest special weapons depot in Europe, and Wasigenstein Castle on the short detour to France.

Start at the biosphere house in Fischbach. Mainly following the original route to AREA ONE, a listed, former special weapons depot near Fischbach. You can visit the inside of the guard building, the fighting posts and 2 bunkers. Very interesting.

Thanks @Deleted User unfortunately that doesn't mean anything to me 🤷‍♀️.

Easy mountain bike tour with beautiful forest paths that alternate up and down. Highlights of this tour are AREA 1 and the Blumenstein castle ruins.

I start the tour in Ludwigswinkel at the free car park opposite the Gasthof Zum Landgrafen.

Since extreme heat was forecast for today, we uploaded a tour to Komoot with fairly "easy" elevation gain. As it turned out, this was largely identical to the official "family-friendly" route.

After the Wasigenstein ruins, which were unfortunately closed, we made a detour to Wengelsbach for lunch at the "Au Wasigenstein" restaurant. Here, we sat with what felt like 1,000 …

Via Ludwigswinkel and the Sägmühlweiher pond to the Area One monument zone. Steep climb to the Blumensteinfelsen via Petersbächel. Easy shortcut via the valley road in the direction of Schönau with a detour to Hirschthal. Through …
