Place Fell Summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

By Lake District standards Place Fell is a rather isolated hill, with Boredale Hause its only tether to neighbouring fells. As such, it’s often overlooked. But this is a rocky gem, cupped in the crook of Ullswater and offering a magnificent viewpoint over the lake, and is thoroughly deserving of an expedition in its own right.

Angletarn Pikes

Highlight • Viewpoint

Angletarn Pikes is 1,860 feet (567 m) in height and is one of the Wainwright fells of the Far Eastern Lake District. It's situated just to the north-west of Angle Tarn. It has two main tops, the north top and the south top and it's the north top that is the Wainwright summit. I particularly like the view to Brothers Water from this summit.

Angle Tarn

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Angle Tarn, just below Angletarn Pikes, is one of the more scenic and popular spots in the Lake District. It has a unique irregular shape that is dotted with small islands and stony bays, making it a popular spot for wild swimming and camping. It has stunning views of the surrounding fells, including High Raise and Helvellyn. It is also very accessible via hiking paths from Patterdale or Hartsop. It is also a photographer's dream sunrise and sunset spot.

Angle Tarn

Highlight • Lake

The trail winds around half of Angle Tarn with splendid views from many different perspectives. I recommend walking this on a clear day as then the color of the water is a deep blue, out of this world, and the wind adds sparkling highlights to it.

Beda Fell summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

Beda Fell is a 1,670-foot (509 m) Wainwright fell in the Far Eastern Lake District. The summit of this fell is named Beda Head. Views into Martindale from this summit are delightful, particularly down towards Hallin Fell and to Ullswater beyond that. On a good day you can see Skiddaw and Blencathra from this vantage point.
