Church of Sant Cristòfol de Tavertet

Highlight • Religious Site

The church of Sant Cristòfol de Tavertet (San Cristóbal de Tavertet) is located in the term of Tavertet in the Catalan region of Osona, in Spain.

It appears documented, in the year 1070, as the possession of the Viscount of Cardona and was consecrated to Saint Christopher.

Originally from the 11th century, it consisted of a single nave with a barrel vault, followed and reinforced by three transverse arches that divided it into four sections and a semicircular apse with a quarter-sphere vault.

During the 12th and 13th centuries, the nave was lengthened and the bell tower was added, with a cross-shaped window. In the lateral Romanesque wall, through three semicircular arches, the lateral nave with Gothic arches was opened. In the 18th century, the southern sacristy was added. Possibly, the raised envelope of the apse also corresponds to this moment. At the end of the 20th century, the Romanesque apparatus that had been covered was uncovered and the apse was returned to its original state.

Puig de la Força

Highlight • Summit

We arrived at a beautiful spot, but from there it was impossible to find the rest of the route... It felt like a wall going down. Perhaps with climbing gear?

Cave of the Pixarelles

Highlight • Cave

Caves that during the Neolithic and until the Iberian period had been a lookout and hunting settlement (complementary to the town of Pla del Castell).
Considered one of the oldest documented stable occupations, dating from the year 3100 to 900 before our era.
Although no human remains have been found, the discovery in this lower level of a prehistoric home and a fauna deposit (with the supposed remains of a wild boar half consumed by the ancient settlers) will help to study what life was like in this space six years ago. a thousand years.

Ladder fixed to the rock of approx. 5 meters in total, which will allow us to climb to the top of the balma. The ladder is solid, although it is not recommended for people with a lot of vertigo.
