Capo Figari Semaphore

Highlight • Monument

The traffic light at Cape Figari is an abandoned navy structure awaiting redevelopment.

It was precisely in this traffic light, inaugurated in 1890, that Guglielmo Marconi even operated there in 1932 to carry out the first short-wave radio transmission.

October 18, 2025,Capo Figari mit Blick auf Monte Ruju und Golfi di Aranchi
Good parking by car along the railway line. Afterward, you can circumnavigate Monte Ruju from two sides. The actual climb begins on the back side. Great views over the Golfi Aranchi. Unfortunately, no dolphins were spotted.

Today we hiked a lovely route around the Gulf of Aranci.
The inspiration came from the Marco Polo Outdoor Guide Sardinia, modified as a circular tour. It is recommended to do the route as we did, as the ascent to the summit has steep sections through undergrowth that are best walked uphill. Good footwear and surefootedness are a must.

Circular hiking trail with a great view and great impressions❣️😁🥰 In between with a short climb that was very risky and strenuous 😎
Not possible without sturdy shoes 😬we sometimes thought we were lost😅it's best to always use the power cables 🤣which are close to the ground🙈!!!!
Almost at the end of the hike, cool off quickly in the bay …

It is best to start in the direction of Monte Ruju, then the highlights come at the end of the tour.

A fantastic walk in fantastic weather.

We climbed the 340 meter high mountain near Costa Aranci over the steep side - with a bit of a via ferrata feeling - (but easily doable if you're sure-footed) up to a former navigation base. Down the long path to a small beach. From there it's about 2 km of boring back along …

Fantastically beautiful views! At the end nice bays to swim. The path is sometimes not clearly recognizable, very rocky and overgrown. Here you can use the cairns for orientation, but it is still advisable to use gps navigation for support. Sturdy shoes are necessary.

Beautiful views with a small via ferrata passage 😅

Monte Ruju is a peak above the Golfo Aranci with a beautiful view of it. The way there is not marked on the Komoot map. The entered point ends about 100 m below the summit. You have to look for the rest of the way off-grid, which is easily doable, since a small trail is visible. However, it is much …
