Porto Covo Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

From the lookout point, you can enjoy spectacular views of the harbor and the fishing boats sailing in and out of the coast. You can also admire the winding limestone cliffs and the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean—truly an unforgettable sight! But why does it have to be so vast?

Porto Covo Promenade

Highlight • Viewpoint

Porto Covo is a small but stunning village on the Alentejo coastline. It is located approximately 170 km south of Lisbon, within the Sines municipality in the Alentejo region. The small village, which is part of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, has roughly 1000 inhabitants. During the summer, however, the population swells with vacationers and tourists. Attracted by its stunning beaches with warm (ish for the Atlantic) and crystal-clear waters. As popular as it might sound, Porto Covo, like most parts of the Alentejo region, remains somewhat unexplored by those visiting the country. Managing to keep its fishing village ambiance and pristine coast.

Porto Covo

Highlight • Settlement

Porto Covo stretches out over the Atlantic with its simple charm: whitewashed houses, quiet streets, and a strong fishing soul. Here, life follows the rhythm of the sea.

In the heart of the Costa Vicentina, it is a key point for those who cycle: dramatic cliffs, hidden beaches, and coastal trails that invite you to explore without haste. Between dives, coffees in the square, and endless views, Porto Covo is one of those places that make you want to stay just a little longer.

Porto Covo Church

Highlight • Religious Site

Porto Covo has essentially retained the charm of a small fishing village. The small church in the old town is particularly nice to look at. Definitely worth a visit.

Hiking Fisherman's Trail in Portugal:

In the next two weeks we will be hiking on the Fischerpfad/ Rota Vicentina.
We won't walk the entire trail. On some days we only want to hike sections of the route.
Today was day 1...and we only walked a little bit between Sines and Porto Covo. Splendid!!
You didn't have to take the way …
