Top tour, the descent requires a little trail experience. 😁👍

Serpentine Road to Astegg

Highlight • Trail

Good passable road. But it is a steep uphill. The view makes up for the effort. An experience.

View of Gschößberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great view. Here you have a good chance to watch birds of prey on their thermal flight. How they circle upwards. It's also relatively easy to get up here via the Penkenbahn. The road is easy to drive.

Highlight • Viewpoint

Those who like it more leisurely can take the Penkenbahn to the terminus and hike a lap from there.

View of the Granat Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

A nice summit experience. The Capella Granata was completed in autumn 2013 and is an architectural gem in the Zillertal mountains. It was designed by the Swiss star architect Mario Botta and consists of a wooden frame construction on which pre-rusted steel plates have been attached to the outside.

The 11m deep reservoir on the Penkenjoch is embedded in a wonderful natural backdrop. Here you can rest comfortably on the shore and enjoy a fantastic view of the Zillertal Alps. The pond can be easily walked around, so you have the opportunity to let its panorama affect you from every side of the bank.

In summer as an oasis of calm with an impressive view, in winter the reservoir acts as a lifeblood for the snowmaking of the slopes. Incidentally, the shape of the pond clearly resembles a heart, which was not planned when it was built! Chance had a hand in it. The heart shape was only discovered through aerial photographs by tandem pilots.

First it's a bit steep uphill to the transmission point, then a bit of gravel steeply downhill.
After several bends the road becomes better and the journey becomes more relaxed. Great view of the Hintertux Glacier.🏔😉👍

Lots of sweat and a panorama up the Plenken, all-round view at the top, then comes the fantastic descent to Tux.
In between, a thunderstorm front passed us by....
You can feel your calves, the brakes smoke and your soul laughs😜

August 19, 2023,Finkenberg zum Penken
Today we went on our final tour up to the Penken, Finkenberg's local mountain. Because of the sun ☀️ quite a sweaty ride. But the views more than made up for it.

Today it was supposed to go up the Penken (2,095 m above sea level), because "up there" a much-advertised "Penken Panorama Tour" awaited me. If you want to take it easy, you can also be "chauffeured up including your bike" to the starting point of this tour, the mountain station of the Penkenbahn (1,785 m above sea level), with the …

Today on the last beautiful day for the time being☀️ again on the Penken 🏔 screwed up and enjoyed the beautiful weather on the heights 🤩
For everyone who is looking for a nice route here: This one is great for everyone to drive and is really fun 😀

What fun... especially the last third 🤩🤓🏔️🙏

In the morning we took the Penkenbahn up the mountain to 2,000 meters. We then covered the remaining 200 vertical meters by bike. Without an electric motor, only with will and strength 😋. It was endlessly crowded on the Penken. Many leisurely walkers, some lazy e-bikers and then a few scattered bikers.
We stopped there at an inn and ate …
