August 29, 2024,Pulvermaar – Maarhöhe – Strohner Schweiz – Strohner Märchen
Today we drove up to the Eifel in hot, dreamy weather, where we expected a few degrees less, but it was still 30. At the Pulvermaar it got very crowded very quickly. After that we had fantastic views over the Eifel, the hike was very educational about volcanism, the 120t lava bomb from Strohn was impressive, the very beautiful Strohner …

The original route passes Erlenhof, to the right of the stream, and leads to the county road.
The path is blocked by a gate on the farm grounds. Before crossing the stream, you must walk up to the road on the left side of the field, or through the field...or take a turnoff before Erlenhof, avoiding it as far as …

The lava bomb in Strohn was the starting point of our tour around Strohn today. The car park is quite small and was already full due to a larger hiking group, but in such cases there are other parking spaces in the village.

Thank you @Bonnie24 for accompanying us on this extremely interesting volcano tour. A really exciting area around the Pulvermaar and Strohn. The longest lava flow in the Eifel over 7 km flowed here and the largest lava bomb with a diameter of 5 meters was found here. Exciting things happened around the Strohn lava pit around 13,000 years ago. Steep …

In glorious weather, I walked the loop from Strohn again today, through Strohner Schweiz to Sprink, around the Wartgesberg, past the Trautzberger Maar to the Pulvermaar.
Always a beautiful loop, with fantastic views!
Parking in Strohn is no problem, at the church or across from the Vulkanhaus.
