Before we head off bear-watching today, we take a short walk around the historic fishing village of Altja, which was first mentioned in 1465.

Yesterday we arrived at the Sagadi manor. The Baron and his family are no longer here, but there are enough mosquitoes. @ Sabine B., thank you, I have enough anti-hum with me😉.
After visiting the forest museum and the manor house with its interior, we went on this lovely little tour in the rain😊

Due to the fact that, until Estonia's independence, the heavily guarded border between the USSR and capitalist countries was located here, as was the case in our border areas, no one was allowed to enter, thus allowing nature to remain untouched. The national park was established shortly after independence. So, some bad things also have their good side.

Altja is a small, old fishing village that is now a very popular tourist destination. We noticed this especially in the, in our opinion, overpriced, small, but delicious blueberry curd cake.
We very much enjoyed the hiking trail through the forest and along the Baltic Sea, following an RMK trail marker.
