Wenlock Edge

Highlight • Viewpoint

This 19-mile (31 km) limestone escarpment stretches from Much Wenlock in the north east to Craven Arms in the south west of Shropshire. There are sprawling woodlands on the slopes of the Edge and plentiful walking, cycling and horse riding trails to enjoy. One of the Midlands most amazing natural features, the escarpment is also an important geological feature for scientific research.

Wilderhope Manor

Highlight • Historical Site

This Elizabethan manor house lies in a remote location near Shropshire's highest hills and is owned by the National Trust. Built out of local limestone, this impressive house retains many original features, such as its oak stairways.

If you've always wanted to spend the night in a fabulous manor, you can. Wilderhope was donated to the National Trust on the explicit condition that it was used as a youth hostel and it has been run by the YHA as one ever since.
