Wutachflühen Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The Wutachflühen (Flühen = rocks) stand for towering rock towers, gigantic ferns, moss-covered stones and gnarled roots. You pass this section of the jungle on partly exposed, narrow paths with a low risk of vertigo.

September 19, 2025,Sauschwänzlebrücke, Wutachflühen - Tour ab WP Wutachflühen bei Fützen 19.09.25
Arriving by car, park at the Wutachflühen WP near Fützen.
From there, the trail descends along the Wutach River to Grimmelshofen, then climbs back up over the Wutachflühen and back to the parking lot.
Wonderful late summer weather at around 25°C.
(Slip-resistant hiking shoes are recommended for this tour.)

Pure nature, great mostly narrow nature paths, except for the chirping of birds and the murmuring of the brook, rest and relaxation.
Slippery in places, so pay attention to the weather.

...small loop along the Wutach, under the Sauschwänzle bridge, on to the Wutachflühen (= rocks) and to the waterfall...over narrow paths...nobody far and wide...ideal for going into the silence so shortly before Christmas Eve...
I wish you all a "Merry Christmas" with your loved ones 😊

Today we spontaneously went to the Wutachflühen in the best weather. The first March cups are already blooming here, even if they are definitely not reaching the masses of last year.

As always, a great hike with great views. Highly recommended, but good shoes are a must.

This morning, I'm once again drawn to the Wutach River. I haven't visited the Wutachflühen in a long time, and I quickly find a route that's perfect for a longer morning walk.

A small hiking parking lot at the upper edge of the Wutachflühen is my starting point. Just a few meters later, I enter the forest and catch my …

The impressive sky in the morning certainly didn't bode well. Nevertheless, we carried on with our planned program. At the beginning of the tour, it poured with rain, but little of it penetrated the still-dense canopy of leaves on the ground.

The Wutach has "eaten away" in the shell limestone slopes and formed a bombastic gorge. The slopes of the Wutach valley - the Wutachflühen (Flühe = rock) - are just as bombastic and technically a bit more demanding. The heavily wooded slopes are a dream to walk on: the Wutach murmurs below, the birds are singing in the treetops 🦅. …
