I found it difficult to identify a path over the rock or along the rock and switched back to the "normal path" below.

Ruins of a medieval castle at the highest point of the Sierra de Rodes, 670 meters high, in the heart of the Cabo de Creus Natural Park and very close to the Monastery of San Pedro de Rodes. From this point there is a spectacular view of the monastery itself, as well as the entire Cap de Creus and the Empordà.

Hermitage of Saint Helena of Rodes

Highlight • Religious Site

The urban structure of Santa Creu de Rodes corresponds to a closed town, that is to say, a town where the rear facades of the houses functioned as walls and where it could only be accessed through the fortified portals.

Its nerve center was the church square, around which the houses are located. Separated by the streets that lead there. These are large buildings (between 70 and 100 m²), with a ground floor, one floor, and roofed with tiles, which often had a patio, vegetable garden or corral.

Santa Creu de Rodes was born and grew in the shadow of the monastery of Sant Pere and was a prosperous place where fairs and markets were held, where hoteliers, tailors, bakers, shoemakers, blacksmiths, tavern keepers or notaries, among others, offered their services to everyone who arrived, especially to the many pilgrims who went to the monastery.

Hermitage of Sant Onofre

Highlight • Religious Site

sacred building
Period 16th-17th century
Situation Camino de San Onofre.
Located on one of the slopes of the Sierra de Verdera, it can be reached by a narrow path that leaves the village or by a forest path that starts from Mas Ventós on the road to Sant Pere de Roda.
It has been documented since 1362, but the current building must have been built in the seventeenth century. It consists of a single nave covered with a gable roof and a small bell tower. There were hermits from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. An annual meeting is held on the second Saturday in May.
