Isenburg Open-Air Stage

Highlight • Structure

Cultural events took place on the open-air stage until 2000. The cultural office planned classical concerts and theater performances there.
“Culture over the Ruhr” attracted people to the open-air stage at Isenburg. Until the concept was no longer financially viable.

Both mountain ridges owe much of their attraction to the evergreen ilex, through which we finally graze downhill, following a washed-out trail.

Today we did a nice walk from Hattingen to Isenburg. 🏰
Nice and good paths. Lots of opportunities to enjoy the nature and the view.🌳🌲
But you should have sturdy shoes. There are some muddy sections.
The last 2 km of the route runs along the main roads.🚙
But all in all a nice walk that we enjoyed hiking😀

Not that anyone thinks this is the direct route from Bf to Bf.😂 (but maybe the most beautiful)

Today I went on a hike with the German Alpine Club Ge. We went from Gelsenkirchen to Hattingen, where our tour started. We went along beautiful hiking trails towards Isenburg, from which you had a great view of Hattingen, but also of the Ruhr. After a break we went back to Hattingen on the Ruhr Valley cycle path, where we …

It went from Hattingen to Velbert at a very leisurely pace, because I felt very ill, had little strength - and as it turned out the next day, it was probably because I had Corona.
Oh well. In any case, it was a super nice tour with lots of great views, a few steeper paths and good rest stops at …

The first 500 meters or so are missing because I didn't want to record the route to the meeting point yet.
Due to a misunderstanding, the meeting point wasn't actually a meeting point today.
Since I was already there, I did the slightly modified route on my own.
Overall, a nice tour. I particularly enjoyed the section along the Ruhr, …

Today was perfect hiking weather. From Velbert Nierenhof, the trail led mostly through forest.

Highlights:
A visit to the Isenburg Castle ruins, located on a hill with panoramic views of the Ruhr River and the beautiful Ruhr Valley.

The Isenburg Castle ruins are always worth a visit. 🌳🌲🌳🏰🌞

It was a varied tour in great weather with beautiful views of Nierenhof and Hattingen.
As the elevation profile showed, there were constant ups and downs, so concentrated and attentive walking was required. It had rained heavily in the last few days, so the forest paths were quite slippery.

Showing Translation

This beautiful tour started at the Velbert-Nierenhof train station car park. From there it was quite quick into the forest. Then out of the forest and into Hattingen. The old town is always worth seeing. Then back into the forest and over beautiful paths and partly on a ridge back to the P.p.
