516 Arouca is a pedestrian bridge in Arouca, northern Portugal, constructed as a suspension bridge. With a length of 516 m, it replaces the 494 m long Charles Kuonen suspension bridge (Valais, Switzerland) as the pedestrian bridge with the longest span in the world. It crosses the gorge of the Paiva River at a height of 175 m. I was lucky with the weather and had a great hike along the Rio Paiva. The path winds its way along the river through the valley over 1,000 steps and an endless wooden walkway. You pass a large suspension bridge and a few beautiful rapids. We drove the way back in a half-open jeep. Also an experience 😂
