According to legend, there used to be a monastery where the lake is today. The wealth and immensity of the nuns led to the demise of the convent and from the tears came the salty lake. Only at Pentecost should the bells and the wailing of the nuns be heard from the lake. 🙏

Very nice hike from Bergen train station and very nice impressions of nature. Easy to walk paths, the signage and information boards are very good. There are beautiful views from the two observation towers. We saw 3 sea eagles.
