Picnic Shelter by the Baltic Sea

Highlight • Rest Area

You pass right by here on the bike path. The coast is flat here, so you are sitting almost directly on the water and only need a few steps to get to it. There are bike racks. It's bound to be busy in summer.

Here on the coastal path, it does not matter if you go Morgens🌞, noon⛅️ or in the evening🌚, fährt or runs 🏃🏻♂️!
The atmosphere and the clean fresh sea air are always worth a visit. There are also ways to buy food and drink here along the way. Photos succeed best in the morning or evening sun 🌞.

Stoltera Nature Reserve

Highlight • Forest

Stoltera is a 3 km long nature reserve on the Baltic Sea coast west of Warnemünde.
This area is characterized by a coastal forest and the adjacent cliff that slopes up to 20 meters to the Baltic Sea.
The cliff is the habitat for the sand martin.
The Baltic Sea Cycle Path, which is particularly popular with hikers and cyclists in summer, leads through the coastal forest.
The main tree species here are beech and birch.

Stoltera Coastal Forest

Highlight • Forest

The region is particularly important for coastal protection and is home to typical plant species such as sea buckthorn bushes and rare birds such as the sea eagle. The species-rich coastal forest also provides shelter for many animals, including wild boars and deer, which are native to this special environment.

Warnemünde Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

The so-called Teepott is a landmark in Warnemünde. Ulrich Müther, a civil engineer from the island of Rügen, designed the striking building with the curved roof. In the tea pot you will find restaurants and souvenir shops.

Right next to it is the almost 40 meter high lighthouse, another landmark of the Baltic Sea resort. It was put into operation in 1898. The lighthouse in Warnemünde is shown on the poster for the film "Shutter Island" with Leonardo Dicaprio - but nothing more. Because the Hollywood film was not shot on the Baltic Sea.

From Easter to the beginning of October the tower is open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is 2 euros.

... there's a run 🏃 ♂️ on the promenade, through the forest and on the beach. Finally, jump into the Baltic Sea 🏊‍♂️. That was wonderful 😊. After that, the breakfast tasted even better 😋.

(I don't understand why the pictures are in the exact opposite order 🤔. There are worse things 😉)

This is my morning run this week during a training course at the Baltic Sea, in Rostock Warnemünde.
A beautiful path leads directly from Hotel Neptun along the coast to the Stoltera cliffs. After 4.5 km there are stairs to the beach and a swim in the Baltic Sea at just after 6 a.m.
The path leads mostly through a …

After getting up I heard the seagulls. running gear on and off. First we went along the beach promenade, then through the forest. Then I walked along the cliffs and finally on the sandy beach to the pier. The sea is getting more and more land. It looks like you better be careful. Breaking off the cliff is certainly not …
