Hirschalpe

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Hirschalpe is a popular hiking destination in the Allgäu Alps between the Spieser and the Jochschrofen. The quickest ascent to the Alp begins in Oberjoch. From here you can climb directly to the Hirschalpe via the Ifenblick (1 ¼ hours) or choose the somewhat longer and more beautiful route over the Ornach (1 ¾ hours). Those who start in Bad Hindelang have to expect a two-hour ascent. The Hirschalpe can also be reached from Unterjoch via the Steinpasssattel. The Spieser can be reached from the Hirschalpe in half an hour. The ascent to Jochschrofen takes about the same ascent time. The alp is cultivated daily in summer. In winter the hut is open on nice weekends as well as on Christmas and Mardi Gras. To be on the safe side, you should inquire beforehand by telephone from the landlords about the opening times or on Facebook (Hirschalpe 1493m).

Who would have thought that I would voluntarily hike in the snow again in mid-May. But I have to admit, it was quite charming. 😍

The paths up over the meadow slope to the Hirschbergalpe and also down over the Steinpaßsattel are, however, currently unpleasantly slippery and slick due to the wet snow and the loamy soil.

The second May tour this time went from the Oberjoch car park, up to the Spieser summit at almost 1655 meters. Admittedly, the climb up to just before the Hirsch Alpe was initially quite easy until the direct ascent to the alp. The climb turned out to be quite strenuous, as the last section was a very steep climb. On …

Is this the last mountain tour of the year? Doesn't matter. The main thing: be outside, great weather, nice conversations and lots of fun 🥰❄️

Dream weather in autumn - there's no stopping me. From Oberjoch via the Panoramaweg towards Hirschalpe (closed and ascent via road closed due to demolition work until April 2024) and then left to the summit. What a gift! Not a soul but me! Magnificent views, cloudless skies... what more can I say? Descent over the Steinpaßsattel and again beautiful views …

The fastest way from Oberjoch over the Ifenblick to the Hirschalpe is popular and easy to walk. Short sections over steep slopes are secured with a wire rope. As with any mountain hike, sturdy shoes are essential.
The described tour over the Ornach and Spieser requires experience in alpine terrain, as the path is steep and can be slippery (especially …

A beautiful tour that you can do even when the weather is not so good. The descent from Ornach to Spieser is very steep. Sure-footedness is required! Great views as far as the Zugspitze and the Ifen.

Today the four of us hiked up the Ornach again. On the way to the alp, I made a detour to the Spieser summit with our little one. All in all, the mountain hiking trails were very nice. Our big one also ran very well on the sections. The asphalt stretches at the beginning and end were quite monotonous and …
