View of Lauterbach

Highlight • Viewpoint

The first documented mention as Hluttrinpah occurred around 900 AD. Later mentions speak of Lutrinpah, then Luterbach. The history of Lauterbach has been significantly influenced by Lauterbach Castle. Around 1400, the people of Dachau lived in Lauterbach's castle. From 1439, Lauterbach Castle and the associated property became the property of the von Hundt family. The first castle in Lauterbach was destroyed by the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War and later rebuilt. In the early 19th century, Lauterbach had around 200 residents, and in 1901 it had 347 residents. After the Second World War, the population rose to 580 people due to refugees, but they gradually emigrated again. On May 1, 1978, Lauterbach was incorporated into the larger municipality of Bergkirchen. In 2020 the district had 929 residents.
