Wümme Beach

Highlight • Beach

Here paddlers often pass by and with a bit of luck you can see a kingfisher.

The Wümmetal is impressively hilly. The course of the river is accompanied by a slightly elevated path, which is also part of the marked north path. The path follows the outskirts of Scheeßel on the right.

The Low German hall building is very interesting. All buildings of the local museum can be visited free of charge.

This rest bench is located not far from the buffalo pastures and directly on the Jeersdorf forest path, but unfortunately without any tree cover or sun protection. A sign provides information about the Carpathian buffalo that live here.

We only saw the buffalo in the distance.
The Wümme beach is definitely worth a cool down in good weather.

Small circular tour in the Wümme lowlands near Scheeßel, partly on the northern path "Wümme and Vareler Heide". The small town is known for the "Hurricane Festival" which takes place every year in June. We didn't see the festival grounds, however. This is located on Eichenring east of the town.
The starting point was the free car park on Zevener …

We took part in the Kneipp Hiking Course for After Work 2 and went to Scheeßel and Jeersdorf. We used the walk to pick up the trash along the trail. In summary, there was a slightly higher amount of trash in Scheeßel, but the hiking trail was almost clean – a good result 👍.

The Wümme North Trail Vareler Heide is a section of the trail that runs along the Wümme River. I occasionally tried to get directly to the Wümme, but unfortunately, that didn't always work.
This section of the trail is not suitable for strollers or similar devices.
