With heavy drizzle and muddy paths, an extremely interesting tour around the Piesberg, today a Geopark, which conveys the history of the coal mine and the quarry with exciting information boards. Visibility was poor, so we didn't climb the lookout tower, but bravely climbed the 269 steps. - Anyway, we're wet now.

we were at the Piesberg today. What a great hike. Why I only see this now ... it's amazing. We have been to the Instriemuseum a number of times and also to the Piesberg ... only the hike was missing. We made up for that today. And in Osnabrück there is also a 🦣 sequoia tree 🌳. Absolutely great experience.

Since I still had the Piesberg circuit on my list for 2022, it was it.
So off with the train and bus and off we go.

A bridge takes you to the small field railway station and about 200 meters further on at the Schlammteich stop is the starting point. It goes up to the three …

You'll be constantly amazed as you hike this varied route around the Piesberg. Spectacular views of the active quarry, geological insights into 300 million years of Earth's history, industrial history, and of course, nature await. The highest of the three viewing platforms is located on the rocky ridge above the massive quarry walls. From here, you have a magnificent view …

My first time hiking the Piesberg – and it was truly worth it! Amazing views and varied trails. I saw my first quarry, took lots of photos, and had lovely conversations with friends.
