The Passer (Italian Passirio) is a river in South Tyrol (Italy). It is formed by the confluence of several source streams on the Timmelsjoch and is 42.6 km in length one of the largest tributaries on the upper course of the Adige, in which it flows into Merano and drained into the Adriatic Sea. The Passer flows through Passeier; their most important tributaries are the Pfelderer Bach, the Waltenbach and the Kalmbach.

The Passer is a popular destination for tourist activities such as canoeing and rafting, as well as the canyon between St. Leonhard and Moos since June 2015 can be walked on a newly opened trail

Via Portici (Arcades), Merano

Highlight • Settlement

Merano's Laubengasse is an 800-year-old shopping street consisting of two rows of houses with arcades separated by a narrow passage.

Historically, they originated as water arcades and mountain arcades.

The arcades, built by Meinhard II, Count of Tyrol, in the 13th century, have been the center of the city's hustle and bustle ever since.

Today, the Laubengasse, with its boutiques, shops, cafés, and restaurants, is one of the most important shopping streets in the old town.

Laubengasse is Merano's main shopping street. In this naturally grown shopping center, you'll find everything from textile and grocery stores, handicrafts and arts and crafts, specialty retailers, fashion boutiques, and international stores, to coffee houses and restaurants.

View of Merano

Highlight • Viewpoint

There are so many routes to Merano - the ones that are a little higher up offer particularly good views. Like the Waalwege or the Taffinerweg. Fascinating insights into a city, an attitude to life or simply the amazing panorama.

Almost everything has already been said here about the Tappeinerweg. What I would like to add is that there are solid toilet houses at the beginning and end, which are made of wood and blend in well with the landscape.

Tappeiner Promenade

Highlight • Trail

One of the most famous walks in Merano is undoubtedly the Tappeinerweg, which leads from the city center along the slope of the Küchelberg. It is one of the most beautiful high altitude promenades in Europe and offers a mix of alpine and Mediterranean vegetation in combination with a wonderful panoramic view. Pines, Himalayan, cork oaks, olive trees, eucalyptus, bamboos and magnolias, agaves, aloes and prickly pears grow along the path.

With a bright blue sky again, we explored Meran. We started in Laubengasse, which simply belongs there. It is a shopping arcade flanked by arcades on the left and right.
At the end you come to the parish square with the parish church of St. Nicholas. The Barbara Chapel right next to it is also worth seeing. Our path continued …
