Warnemünde Seafront Promenade

Highlight • Trail

This beautiful, well over a kilometer-long beach promenade was built over 100 years ago.

During the summer months, there are many stalls here, and it can get quite busy 😉

Warnemünde Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

The so-called Teepott is a landmark in Warnemünde. Ulrich Müther, a civil engineer from the island of Rügen, designed the striking building with the curved roof. In the tea pot you will find restaurants and souvenir shops.

Right next to it is the almost 40 meter high lighthouse, another landmark of the Baltic Sea resort. It was put into operation in 1898. The lighthouse in Warnemünde is shown on the poster for the film "Shutter Island" with Leonardo Dicaprio - but nothing more. Because the Hollywood film was not shot on the Baltic Sea.

From Easter to the beginning of October the tower is open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is 2 euros.

See and be seen: Fishing cutters and sailing boats, passenger ships and motor yachts rock on the water of the Alter Strom between the station bridge and the pier.

On some fishing cutters you can start a fishing tour, others are firmly moored at the jetty. On these there are fresh fish rolls and other goods typical of the Baltic Sea coast and Warnemünde.

The Warnemünde station bridge is the bridge over the Alter Strom and was completed in 1903 with a total length of 42 meters and a width of 7.10 meters. Until 1940 it was used as a swing bridge. Nowadays, the bridge is only used on special occasions as an attraction for locals and tourists.

It is located in the middle of the Alter Strom and therefore offers an excellent starting point for great photo opportunities and exploration tours in all directions in Warnemünde.

The colorful cutters are great to look at, even if it is very crowded here with tourists in summer.

Today we escaped the rain and drove to the coast. The weather was fantastic. Beautiful walk from the lighthouse along the promenade and through the coastal forest to Wilhelmshöhe. The walk back barefoot on the beach was good for all kinds of muscles.

It was supposed to be a beautiful autumn day, so we headed to MV to finally hike through the beautiful ghost forest 🪵😱 again.👏🏼🤩
We started at the parking lot 🅿️ "Strand West Warnemünde".
We first walked to Wilhelmshöhe on beautiful forest paths through the almost fairytale forest 🌳🍂🌳🪵🍃. From the terrace you have a great view of the Baltic …

The parking fees here on the Baltic Sea are okay. The beach is very nice and we also liked the way to the harbor and promenade. The port city is very nice with the small shops, restaurants and cafes... the fish stalls. .....Top

A very easy tour. You can also walk the path longer. We didn't have companions who were so steady on our feet. At the excursion restaurant you have to climb stairs.

Since the weather is quite good, today we hike through the Stoltera Forest, also known as the Ghost Forest.
This coastal section of the cliff is very vulnerable; annual collapses of about 35 cm are apparently common.
Our path leads through the "Wilhelmshöhe" restaurant on this cliff.
Then we hike another 2 km before starting the return journey.
The path …

From the train station in Warnemünde walked along the stream. Here one shop/restaurant follows the next and ships that do not offer harbor tours sell fish (buns).
While there were still a lot of people here, there were fewer and fewer towards the pier and lighthouse.
But the beach was packed. The promenade is a bit reminiscent of a mixture …

At the end of our 4-day trip to the beautiful Müritz in Waren, we made up for the trip to the not far away (just under 1 1/4 hours by car) Baltic Sea, which was postponed yesterday due to the thunderstorm, with a wonderful mix of sun and clouds.
🌤⛱️💦😎

At first there was still plenty of sun from above and then later the rain.
However, only shortly before the end of the round.
Today the picnic blanket was used and if it hadn't been for such strange dried flowers raining down on us we would have slept there until the evening.
N sparkling wine (non-alcoholic of course, and yes, …
