View of Bad Wimpfen's Old Town

Highlight • Viewpoint

Bad Wimpfen is located on the left bank of the Neckar about 10 km north-northwest of Heilbronn, as the crow flies. Its older part, Wimpfen im Tal, runs along the river in its left-hand floodplain, which is quite wide. A little west of there is Wimpfen am Berg on the upper slope to the left of the river valley that rises towards the Kraichgau. There, in the Middle Ages, the Staufer Palatinate and the mountain town were built on an eastern spur above the slope of the river below, which turns north, and the small side valley of the Adamsgraben, which tapers bluntly from the southwest. The newer parts of the city spread out on a flatter slope, especially to the west.

Bad Wimpfen also includes the suburb of Hohenstadt, two kilometers to the northwest, which is located on the left slope of a slightly larger side valley that runs east towards the Neckar.

With the exception of a tiny gap at the mouth of the Jagst opposite Wimpfen in the valley, the urban area of Wimpfen lies to the left of the Neckar and is mostly on undulating land about 200-250 meters high. There is only a narrow strip of forest on the Neckar slope, as well as somewhat larger forest islands on the northern and western city limits. The majority of this hilly plain drains directly to the Neckar via small valleys. Only in the southwest do some watercourses beyond the city limits initially flow to the Böllinger Bach, a slightly longer tributary of the Neckar.

I was able to ride the section up to the construction site near the mill on Sunday.
It really is like a "cycle highway", super wide with a central reservation!

A start, but it only makes sense once the bridge is started/completed.
On the other hand, a lot of nature has been and is being sacrificed.

View of Bad Wimpfen

Highlight • Viewpoint

Bad Wimpfen is very beautiful and worth seeing, thanks to its medieval charm. The city wall, the Blue Tower in the old town, its lovely restaurants, and cozy shops are all worth a visit and a stop. There's a charging station and service point for bicycles at the train station. The Christmas market is a particular highlight every year.

The bike path is paved here and you can watch the Neckar again and again. There are hardly any inclines.

A very beautiful valley for hiking and cycling past old mills, privately owned animal enclosures, and idyllic rest areas.

Here you can see deer and deer. As a cyclist, you do not see every day.

The first picture is a fair-weather bike, unfortunately not mine, only to get in shape with me. Nice and easy and fast..
On the Neckar to Heinsheim and Gittenbacher Schleusse Over Binau Dorf, complete the 50 km. Cycle path in Diedesheim, Neckarelz, loading station Hochhausen and Bad Wimpfen closed due to flooding. But it is not flooded. The Neckar has …

In the beautiful weather we cycle down the Neckar to the Guttenbach lock in Neckargerach and back again on the other side of the Neckar. One of the plans was to meet the submarine, which is currently being transported on the Neckar, on the way.

We started in Bad Friedrichshall in sunny weather and cycled along the Neckar Valley Trail. From Obrigheim the cycle path was closed and we had to continue on the right. The rest of the cycle route went directly along the main road, which of course wasn't great.

A weekend trip to the Neckar River in Binau, which was also the starting point of the bike tour. Sometimes closer to the river, sometimes closer to it, we passed castles and castle ruins, with wonderful vistas repeatedly offered, and the view of the Bad Wimpfen skyline (which was the day's destination) promised a lot. So we headed up into …

A very good route from Binau to Bad Wimpfen on both sides of the Neckar. There are always slight inclines. Unfortunately, it's always on and along country roads, mostly with cycle paths, and sometimes without. Bad Wimpfen is definitely a worthwhile destination.

Nice tour. Because of the heat, I drove a few km under the bridge on the right-hand side. The left side of the river is nicer.

Bad Wimpfen has a beautiful old town. It is worth visiting.

Started early after dusk, because this morning there was only a time window of a good 2 hours and the wind is supposed to increase from 11 a.m.
Visited my former job in Gundelsheim. I always tried to drive along the Neckar on the lee side. Diedesheim Binau is no different, without major detours. It was nice and the sun …
