River crossing - La Doller

Highlight • River

There might be a gravel road on the map, but a small dam made up out of rough boulders in the La Doller river is all you get. Makes for a nice adventure though. Maybe with low water you can try to ride across, but when we were there (in the middle of a hot dry summer) the water was too high and the bottom below the water too big of a question mark. I'd say... hike that bike!

Michelbach Dam

Highlight • Monument

Description

The Michelbach dam is an artificial dam built from 1979 and put into service in October 1982, located for 3/4 of its length on the edge of the commune of Aspach-Le-Bas and for 1/4 on that of the commune of Aspach-Michelbach in the Haut-Rhin department

Michelbach Lake

Highlight • Lake

Built from 1979 to 1982, the dam regulates the water table and ensures the supply of drinking water to the Mulhouse conurbation and its surroundings. It is a protected place, classified as an approved voluntary nature reserve. The Mulhouse water service and the joint syndicate of the Michelbach dam ensure the management and operation of the infrastructures. A 4km pedestrian circuit (about 1h30 walk) allows, thanks to educational panels, to discover and observe many species of birds that nest there or are passing through (cormorant, osprey, crow, etc.). On the horizon stand out the peaks of the Vosges such as the Rossberg, the Thannerhubel, the Markstein or the Grand Ballon. Guided tours are organized in summer by the Tourist Office of Thann-Cernay.
