Section between sea and mountains

Highlight • Viewpoint

This is a classic stretch of road with good asphalt from which you can see the sea to the north and the impressive peaks of Europe to the south. From this confluence of sea and high mountains it is called the Cantabrian coast. The mountains form a cornice that is influenced by the sea air.

Highlight • Viewpoint

Spectacular views from the road towards the Zapedo marsh. One of the wetlands that form at the mouths of the estuaries in the Cantabrian Sea and are home to various marine species and aquatic birds. Many of them play a fundamental role in the town's economy.

No need to go to California to see some of these magical and old trees. This forest was planted around the 1940's to provide for wood but by the time they were ready to be cropped, the market had no interest in this material. In 2003 it became a Natural Monument and its environment is now protected.

Cycling there is not allowed but you are able to push your bike. Be aware of the steps though!
