View of Moneglia from Via Aurelia

Highlight • Viewpoint

Before continuing to Moneglia, shortly after having crossed the hill, it is worth stopping for a nice panoramic photo

The cycle paths that run along the sea drive me crazy. Beautiful.

Panoramic road between Lavagna and Cavi

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Panoramic road which, remaining on the coast, allows you to avoid the traffic of the coast road between Cavi and Lavagna. The effort is rewarded by the exceptional view.

Bocco Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

At Passo del Bocco it is possible to stop and have a coffee or even eat at the Devoto refuge. Then you can continue as well as for Varese Ligure as I did, also for Parma.

Bocco Pass

Highlight (Segment) • Mountain Pass

First piece 2/3 km stretches with ramps over 10%. Afterwards it becomes pedalable. After Cassego it picks up again although less than the beginning but longer, about 5km. Once you reach Colla Craiolo the slope is less steep, the last 2 km or so. Then the descent to Bocco is very beautiful.
Not one of the best climbs but worth trying, a bit of training is needed. The surface is not optimistic, going slowly downhill, potholes and poorly maintained asphalt, parts covered by woods and otherwise.

Varese Ligure Town Center

Highlight • Settlement

Varese Ligure is the last major site at the top of Varata.
With its pretty cobbled main square, it offers a beautiful old town ambience as well as restaurants, bars and an ice cream parlor. An optimal place for a rest before the next pass.
From here it is primarily for the racing cyclist in three directions.
The very nice driveway up to the Passo di Centro Croci, which brings us in the direction of Tarotal. The Passo del Biscia whose fantastic descent from the pass towards Chiavari leads to the sea. Or you can follow the Vara Valley downhill and without having to cope with many meters you can reach La Spezia.
