The Cospudener See is an artificial lake south of Leipzig. It was created from an opencast mine that was flooded. The three Saxon cities of Leipzig, Markkleeberg and Zwenkau share the lake area.

July 2, 2022,Zwenkauer See und Cospuder See
Nice day tour. At both lakes you can jump into the water anywhere. At Lake Cospud there is sand and gravel almost everywhere on the shore for bathers and there are various restaurants. The Zwenkauer See is more natural and calmer. Lunch at the Seehaus Cospuden.

Today we packed up our bikes again. The goal was to go around the Cossi and the Zwenkauer See. Unfortunately, after 5 km the saddlebag broke. But I had cable ties and wire with me😎. Because remember☝️ with a hammer and some wire, you can get to Stalingrad. We had lunch at Cape Zwenkau. Then we went swimming🌊 in the …

We set out to cycle around the Zwenkauer and Cospudener lakes. They are part of the Leipzig New Lakes Landscape. But while the Cospudener lake already seems to be completely developed for tourism, its neighbour is still in the development phase. The cycle paths are, according to the infrastructure, available and in very good condition...or not...but still a very nice …

The bike path around Lake Cosputen is highly recommended...it practically rolls along by itself 😉 There are still plenty of gravel roads around Lake Zwenka, and there aren't too many places to swim or stop for a break. Still, a very nice loop!

The Leipzig Lake District is definitely worth a visit. The cycle path network is very well developed and there are plenty of sandy beaches and places to stop and relax.
