A beautiful lap around Lake Wallendorf with a strong wind that always seemed to be blowing from the front.

A nice walk around Lake Wallendorf, even though the sun didn't show itself today.

I have now walked around my first lake for the Iron Lake Challenge "Saxony-Anhalt". This challenge, to walk around the 10 largest lakes in this (my) federal state, is a goal for 2025.

The fourth template of the SWH family calendar is a hike around Lake Wallendorf. I actually wanted to do the hike on Friday. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm got in the way. Today, with temperatures over 30°C, we took the tram and bus to Burgwerben in the early afternoon. Lots of people were lying in the bathing bays and cooling off in …

The Wallendorfer See as a right loop. We were in good spirits and actually got back to the car too quickly.
It's nice at home too.

The Wallendorfer Lake was created as a so-called “post-mining landscape” from the former lignite mine Merseburg Ost.

It felt like the camera was being used more than the legs 🤭
The flora and fauna made nature and hiking enthusiasts' hearts beat faster 😊

Blue carpenter bees, sand martins, kestrels, woolly hoverflies, common blues, damselfly, herons, reed buntings, kestrel, marsh harriers, red-backed shrikes, cuckoos... and much more could be seen and sometimes only heard 🤓

According to Wikipedia, the Wallendorfer See is located near Schkopau in the immediate vicinity of the Raßnitzer See. Both lakes are so-called residual holes from the former open-cast lignite mine. The renovation was largely completed in 1998 and the lake was flooded with water from the nearby White Elster.
A very nice local recreation area !!!

... a heartfelt thank you. Finally back on the road after a 4 week break. The days are getting longer and I'm looking forward to this year's activities. Maybe you accidentally cross paths on purpose. LG Karsten
