The wild and romantic Stilluptal

Highlight • Gorge

The Stillup Valley is located in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park and, at 17 kilometers, is the shortest of the four side valleys. The scenically idyllic valley invites you to explore and has delicious Tyrolean delicacies ready with numerous rest stops.

Schlegeis Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

Right behind the tunnel, the waterfall flows along the steep wall into the reservoir. This is where the Gasthaus Wasserfall at the parking lot got its name.
Along the hiking path you come across several waterfalls, some of which plunge very impressively over hundreds of meters into the valley.

Stillup Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

Nicely located store. There is a new hiking trail along the Stillupbach, which unfortunately was partly washed away by the last flood.

It is very beautiful here, there is now a beautiful walking path to the grünne wand hütte. First it was that you had to walk over a road. Which also had a taxi van and cyclists on it. Hiking path hope that it will remain intact even with all that melting water in spring.

On the way to the Green Wall hut, asphalt road only a little slope. At the end it is about 300m steeply uphill. Also suitable for smaller children with a running bike or in a stroller. It also drives a taxi if desired.

Since it was supposed to be wet today, and it was in parts, we chose a hike that already had wet conditions. We hiked through the idyllic Stilluptal, a side valley in the Zillertal near Mayrhofen. This valley is apparently the valley with the most water in the Alps. Waterfalls cascade down the steep walls to the left and right …

The car parked at the Stillup Stausee car park. You can walk the road to it, but that is tough and still quite a climb. We chose the first, given the crowds, the Stillup Stausee is a real attraction route. The first parts went through the tunnels due to avalanche danger. But once on the route, quite a few people …

Beautiful mountains, waterfalls and a wonderful lake. Unfortunately almost only asphalted paths, but the hiking trail is in progress. Then it will be even more beautiful.

Wonderful hike in a dreamlike valley. At the end there is an ascent to the Green Wsnd Hut. Currently, the entire area is paved. Therefore also wonderfully suitable for e-bikes. A new hiking trail is currently being created along the stream to separate bicycles and pedestrians.

Great wheelchair/handbike tour at the Stillup reservoir in the Zillertal. Starting point: Gasthof Wasserfall, at the end of the lake the climb becomes steep. However, you can take a minibus to Gasthof Grüne Wand and then walk back without any incline.

Unfortunately, the battery was only enough for the way there 🙄

We took the shuttle bus to the Grünen Wand Hut. On the way back, we walked down the Stillap River to the Stillap Reservoir.
Unfortunately, komoot incorrectly recorded the tour between km 5 and 6. 🙈There was no gorge.
It's about 330 meters of descent
and 8.59 km long.
