Together with the Egenhoven Forest, the Meerdaal Forest and the Heverlee Forest cover an area of 2050 hectares and form the largest mixed deciduous forest in Flanders. In contrast to the otherwise fertile soils of the surrounding lands, this soil is sandy to loamy.
