Kasteel van der Vorst Watermill (Loonbeek)

The watermill was part of Van der Vorst Castle, of which on the other side of the walking path you can see the enclosure wall and monumental classicist entrance gate with coat of arms of the van der Vorst family.

It is a relatively old water mill on the IJse, already mentioned in 1495 and ban mill of the castle lords (see coat of arms of the Van der Vorst family). The current buildings date from the 17th century (reconstruction after the destruction by the Beggars in the 16th century) and the 18th century. The building and some of the movable work are quite well preserved. The grinding work has undergone an interesting evolution from an industrial-archaeological point of view.
