The apostle "Saint-JACQUES", to whom this chapel in Ploubazlanec was dedicated, belongs, together with his brother, to the closest circle of Jesus' disciples. In his version of the "Good News" (this is the meaning of the word "gospel"), the evangelist Mark lists the apostles: "James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother of James - to whom he gave the nickname Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder" (Mark 3:17). Pleubian church

(13th century 1810 - 1814), built by the contractor Levavasseur on the plans of Félix Anfray and restored since. Built on the remains of an older church dating from Saint-Maudez and ruined by Norman invasions, the church dates back to the 13th century for its oldest pillars. 1729, the reconstruction plans are drawn up by Anfray. From 1813, the work was directed by Levavasseur. Later, for some unexplained reason, the choir and the bell tower are reversed, Saint-Georges not respecting the tradition of the choir in the east. The north aisle was raised in 1933, and the south-east aisle in 1848. The double aisles and the campanile were redone in 1886 and organs were installed at the same time. The sacristy was rebuilt in 1889. The church was restored at the end of the 19th century. Saint-Yves often came to preach here, in the adjoining Benedictine priory, built in 1034. The church houses pretty banners, a polychrome wood Pieta from the 15th century (which comes from the chapel of Rojadou, destroyed at the beginning of the 20th century), the statues of Saint Comes and Saint Damien, the relics (the reliquary dates from the 17th century) of Saint Vincent Ferrier (Spanish preacher, who died in 1515 in VANNES), the ex-votos of Saint Antoine and Napoleon, as well as the model of Saint Georges (early 20th century and work of the sculptor Le Guen). The outdoor pulpit dates from the 15th-16th century. The ground is covered with many funerary slabs. Note that the primitive church was placed around 1050 under the patronage of Saint Peter. The lords of Kermel and Kermenguy once held preeminences in the church of Pleubian.
