Highlight • Structure

Just a must. It's wonderful to see how the plants grow from day to day - until they come into the bottle :)

With the small Liborius chapel in the back you have at this point a particularly beautiful view of Etternach. The basilica rises out of the city, especially at dusk it looks fantastic from here. The small chapel also offers good protection during a rain shower.

The Irreler Waterfalls are a beautiful natural attraction in the Eifel region of Germany. They consist of a series of rapids on the Prüm River, which winds its way through a maze of boulders. The boulders were created by massive landslides at the end of the last ice age, about 11,000 years ago. The Irreler Waterfalls are an ecologically valuable area and a natural monument.
You can visit the Irreler Waterfalls from a car park on the L4, just outside the village of Irrel1. There is a wooden footbridge over the water, which gives you a nice view of the flowing Prüm. Unfortunately, this bridge was damaged in the floods in July 2021 and the area is currently closed off. Work is underway to build a new suspension bridge, which is expected to be ready by the end of September 2023.

Prümerburg Ruins

Highlight • Castle

For the first time the castle was mentioned in 1337 in writing. In 1658, the weir was burned down in the Dutch-French War and no longer built. Today, the path leads to the castle ruins over the ditch, which formerly secured the east side. As you climb up to the top of the pentagonal tower, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the Prüm valley. The vaulted cellar is still accessible via a staircase.
