Kalkofenhöhle Cave

Highlight • Cave

The lime kiln cave was exposed in the course of the construction work for the Rhine Valley motorway. The bottom of the cave is two meters below the current valley floor. It was created around 10,000 years ago by the water of the original Lake Constance and later closed by the gravel of the Rhine. Stalactites and sintered tubes formed inside. The cave was opened on February 3rd, 1971 and in the next few days all stalactites were destroyed and stolen. Today the entrance to the cave is hidden behind a small pile of gravel - but can be visited. In the meantime, the first very small stalactites have formed again. (Source: Natur z'Koblach)

Wasserhaus Arbogast

Highlight • Monument

A 5 x 5 meter concrete cube, the Arbogast Water House, has been standing in a valley basin in the Götzner district of Arbogast since 2003. Its walls and ceiling are riddled with 820 precisely drilled round openings - a masterpiece of engineering. When you step inside, you can see the drinking fountain, the water basin on the floor, light reflections and the surrounding nature. It is a space of peace and contemplation, a place where awareness of the life-giving, precious and at the same time endangered element of water is heightened. Parish Church of St. Agnes, Klaus

Highlight • Religious Site

Parish Church of St. Agnes, Klaus
Hillside location with a distant view - there is hardly a more ideal place for a church. Like other churches in the area, the Klaus parish church of St. Agnes is perched high above the village, with a view of the Rhine Valley Oberland. Built around 1500, it has a colorful building history with several extensions and enlargements. Built in the spirit of the Gothic period, the interior of St. Agnes has its own character thanks to the many wooden elements. Instead of high vaults, you will find a ceiling clad with flat wooden panels, and the gallery is decorated with carvings. Old and new complement each other here: the altar and baptismal font are from 1971, while a figure of Mary and child dates from 1640.

February 4, 2022,In und um den Klauser Wald mit Lennie 🐶🚶‍♀️
I've been living in Vorarlberg for ten years now and there's always something new to discover 🥰 I'm really happy about that 😀
I've been out and about in the Klauserwald from time to time and I've also explored a few paths in the forest across the way in the direction of the Örfla Gorge.
Then I suddenly discover the …
