Hard road ride. Very good fitness required. Mostly well-paved surfaces and easy to ride. The starting point of the route is right next to a parking lot.

August 11, 2023,La Mongie - Col d'Aspin - Tourmalet
Tourmalet in the heat, then quiet from La Mongie to accompany a bikepacker to the summit while chatting!

Showing Translation

At the summit of the giant slalom, it's quite cold. I quickly descend to Sainte-Marie de Campan to see the riders at the start of the Col d'Aspin. The rain sets in.
The climb up the Col du Tourmalet is calmer and cooler.

Showing Translation

Relentless ascent even if the slope softens on some portions
The arrival on Mongie is quite steep (at the level of the avalanches above the road)
The village is very ugly, and particularly the exit with this hideous bar on the left on the way up.
Fortunately the end of the climb is superb in the middle of the mountain
